Quality Assurance Manager

At David Wood Baking we have over 20 years’ experience in the bakery business, and if one thing is clear about our company it’s that we’re passionate about baking. We currently produce a range of quality frozen ‘bake off’ and craft bakery products encompassing Savoury Pastry, Sweet Pastry, Bread, Morning Goods and Confectionery products from six cutting-edge bakeries around the UK.

 

 

About The Role

To work closely with the Site Management team to ensure all Food Safety, Quality and Legal requirements are controlled and met.

Reporting to the Head of Technical, the QA Manager has full responsibility for the QA Department.

Through the continual management, development and auditing of the Quality Management System, the QA Manager will ensure that the appropriate process control systems and procedures exist to deliver consistent and effective control of all products.

To deliver a Continuous Quality & Food Safety Improvement program through the development and implementation of improvement techniques on site.

Schedule:
• 9-hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate: Bolton: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Experience: • Food industry: 1 year (preferred)

Responsibilities & Requirements

• Responsible for ensuring product safety and quality is maintained throughout the process chain.
• Ensuring adequate monitoring systems are in place focussed on food safety, process control, good manufacturing practice and food handling.
• Complaint handling, trending, and reduction plans.
• To be key part of site HACCP team ensuring legal, customer and third-party compliance
• Liaise with Customers and Suppliers regarding day-to-day queries and issues surrounding quality and technical management.
• Carry out appraisals for the quality team.
• To assist the Head of Technical in developing the quality management systems and processes in line with legal, customer, company and other best practice requirements, which create, maintain and improve the integrity and food safety and quality of all products manufactured.
• To develop and maintain strong leadership across the Quality function, always ensuring that a well-structured and motivated team is in place.
• Deputise for the Head of Technical in their absence.

Requirements:
• Team management experience within chilled food manufacturing
• Degree, or equivalent, in Food Science or similar is desirable
• HACCP trained, preferably at level 3
• Internal audit trained
• Retailer-facing experience
• Strong management skills
• Quality assurance: 2 years (preferred)
