About The Role

At David Wood Baking we have over 20 years’ experience in the bakery business and, if one thing is clear about our company it’s that we’re passionate about baking.

We currently produce a range of quality frozen ‘bake off’ and craft bakery products encompassing Savoury Pastry, Sweet Pastry, Bread, Morning Goods and Confectionery products from eight cutting-edge bakeries around the UK.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Deputy to the QA Manager.

Organising day to day work of the QA team, including shift coverage and managing the QA shift Rota.

Maintaining and improving quality of product through the QA team. Being actively involved with training of QA’s to understand product attributes and customer requirements.

Initiation of investigations and response to customer in relation to all customer complaints in conjunction with the technical and production teams.

Maintenance of the quality manual and all procedures therein to ensure that the quality management system complies with customer and BRC requirements.

Ensuring all procedures in the quality manual are adhered to especially with respect to Critical Control Points.

Overseeing document control of all factory documents including forms, recipes, specifications and labels.

Ensuring micro biological testing and swabbing regimes are adhered to and food safety issues are addressed.

Assist with supplier approval and monitoring.

Directly and driving through the QA team good manufacturing practices, food safety, quality and health and safety are maintained at all times.

Ensuring NPD/EPD trials are covered/attended by a member of the QA/Technical Team.

Manage/Review KPI data and work directly with the Technical Team to improve and implement changes as required.

Participate in customer/3rd party audits and push the improvement of audit results directly and through the QA team.
