Welcome to our new website!

With so many changes, we thought we’d start our new blog section by telling you all about them. From our name change to our new website, we’re excited for our new chapter.

To understand our name change, we need to tell you where we began. In 2008, armed with 20 years experience, David Wood set out on a new challenge to build himself a new food production company. At this time, there were a number of closures within food manufacturing and with it, the opportunity to keep production going and save the jobs of thousands of workers at various sites.

From the first factory in Sheerness which produced frozen uncooked savoury pies, sausage rolls and pasties to the next few acquisitions of factories, our talented bakers were able to begin baking artisan bread, and now more lately producing premium meals.

Today we have seven sites throughout the UK and a head office in Leeds. With teams around the country of bakers, chefs, engineers and production staff, we are able to create such a variety of food in different categories; from baked bread to food-to-go, and ready meals to those enjoyed at 39,000 feet onboard luxury aircrafts. There are no heights (pun intended) that we don’t aim to reach. With teams of chefs and bakers cooking up a storm and constantly coming up with new recipes, we look to push the boundaries and not just follow trends of the food industry – but lead them.

Growing so fast beyond baking (though this remains integral to David Wood Foods) we felt the name change has come at just the right time. The ‘foods’ encapsulates so much more of what we now do and we’re proud to launch it as it really does convey how far we’ve come in the past 10 years.

Moving forward with a name meant we also wanted to showcase our brand further with a new website. We hope you enjoy scrolling learning more about what we currently produce. From recipe development to production and packaging, we’re looking forward to working with you!
