Technical Assistant / Administrator

At David Wood Baking we have over 20 years’ experience in the bakery business, and if one thing is clear about our company it’s that we’re passionate about baking. We currently produce a range of quality frozen ‘bake off’ and craft bakery products encompassing Savoury Pastry, Sweet Pastry, Bread, Morning Goods and Confectionery products from six cutting-edge bakeries around the UK.

About The Role

Reporting to the Head of Technical, the job holder will support all members of the Technical Team by administrating documentation to ensure all stages of manufacture from development, customer acceptance through to full production are controlled within the QMS and comply to company and customer policies, codes of practice, legislation and work instructions.

Through the continual management, development and auditing of the Quality Management System, ensure that the appropriate process control systems and procedures exist to deliver consistent and effective control of all products and documentation.

To help deliver a Continuous Quality & Food Safety Improvement program.

Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Manage and monitor site Document Control and complete technical administration tasks for the Technical and wider operations team.
  • Review the QMS regularly and update accordingly.
  • Manage and monitor supplier approval documentation, including SAQs, audit status and supplier performance, including rating and closing out all issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all customer specifications and data bases are up to date and completed as required.
  • Assist with customer audits and use available resource to obtain any requested information (including traceability). Ensuring audit is professionally organised and in control.
  • Understand HACCP and play an active part in ensuring the sites HACCP program is run effectively.
  • Attend HACCP training and meetings where required.
  • Assist in the control and installation of all HACCP procedures and training. Review when required.
  • Investigation, identification and advice on prevention of consumer / customer complaints.
  • Complaints meetings are organised and takes place including trending all customer complaints. Communicating to full management teams weekly.
  • All NPD, trials, launches, BOMS and recipe modifications are instigated and delivered on time.
  • Responsibility for sage ordering of consumables.
  • Responsibility for all supplier and finished product specifications, SAQs and relevant documents.
  • IT & PC knowledge – able to use widespread functions within relevant software.
  • Able to follow and promote good H&S practices at all times.
  • To work within agreed department budgetary controls.
  • Able to update any recipes BOMs in a timely manner to reflect correct recipe.
  • Time and Project Management – Prioritises and manages workload to ensure all tasks are delivered on time.

Requirements:

  • HACCP Level 2 / 3.
  • Food Hygiene level 2 / 3.
  • Root Cause Analysis Training.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Previous experience of working in the food industry advantageous

Schedule:

  • 9-hour shift
  • Day shift Monday to Friday
