Product Developer

Hours of Work:  8-5 Main days Mon to Fri but occasional weekends/nights may be required

Rate of Pay:  Salary £30k – £40k

Benefits (Holiday etc): 20 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays

About The Role

Due to the success & growth of our business, David Wood Baking are looking to expand our Development Team recruiting a “Product Developer” to join our product development team. This role will focus on Pastry products to help the business to continue to grow with innovative Pastry products.

In this role you will participate in all aspects of the concept to launch process including:

  • Creative brainstorming of new products, including new flavours and techniques, in line with customer briefs and DWF inspirational pipeline innovation streams
  • Kitchen based concept development work
  • Leading daily product sampling sessions
  • Factory trials of new products and improvements to existing products
  • Driving forward product standards
  • Sourcing of new ingredients
  • Product presentations internally and to customers

Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Competent “Hands On” product developer, with a minimum of years 2 industry experience
  • Have an awareness of current food/ flavour trends and UK bakery market
  • Awareness of Good Manufacturing Practice and HACCP
  • Sound knowledge of properties of Savoury and Sweet Pastries and ingredient functionality
  • Can work individually and as part of an extended team
  • Take a “Common Sense” approach
  • Have good organisational skills, record keeping & a user of Microsoft office including word and excel
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard office hours when required
  • Some travel to other DWB sites may be required
  • Are eligible to work in the UK
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
