Accounts Assistant

Full-time (Permanent)

 Salary circa £23,500.00 to £25,500.00 / year – depending on experience,

About The Role

We are a family- owned food manufacturing company based in Rothwell (LS26) on the outskirts of Leeds, and we require a forward thinking and self-motivated

Sales / Purchase Ledger Assistant to join our dynamic team at our Head Office.

 This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to utilise their skills and develop within a very successful Finance department.


Responsibilities & Requirements

Duties will include: –

Sales Ledger

 Entering receipt of client account payments and allocation plus balancing ledgers

  • Chasing outstanding Invoices by telephone, email, and customer portals
  • Dealing with Pod requests
  • Ensuring all debts are prioritised, managed and communicated
  • Be able to prioritise own workload and deal with queries in a timely manner
  • Sales Invoice generation and posting receipts
  • Daily input on to EDI application

Purchase Ledger

  • Full supplier account statement reconciliations and communicating with suppliers
  • Processing of supplier invoices / matching purchase orders and generating weekly payments in line with agreed terms
  • Bank account reconciliations and weekly postings, ensuring any outstanding items are investigated and cleared accordingly
  • Monthly employee expenditure claims
  • Petty cash reconciliation
  • Generation of VAT returns for individual sites
  • Fixed Asset register invoices
  • Preparation of various Accruals and Prepayments at month end
  • Control account reconciliations
  • Closing monthly accounting periods ensuring all postings completed and trial balance totals are accurate

Ideally you will have:

Experience working in a fast-paced environment, prioritising a busy workload

Experience of working within an account’s environment in a similar role

Proven experience, forming and maintaining positive relationships with those you work with

A strong passion for working within accounts and finance

The right candidate should be able to work on their own initiative and as a team player Attention to detail, accuracy and excellent communication skills are essential to operate throughout the business at all levels.

Experience of SAGE 200 and Microsoft Excel would be a distinct advantage
